How and where should the City grow?
This online discussion forum has concluded. You can still browse the site but the discussion area will no longer accept new comments or votes.
Every year the City grows in population and the number of dwelling units to house that population. The CityShaping Critical Issues paper identifies the need to accommodate 8,000 additional dwelling units in the coming years. What type of housing should this be and where? Locating growth along corridors well served by public transit and services would support a more complete community. How and where would you see the City grow?

There is a direct link between urban form and health. Healthy communities feature built forms that allow housing and jobs to be located closer together, that encourage more active lifestyles (walking, cycling) and that are inclusive for all. The North Shore is already one of the healthiest regions in Canada. What can the City do to continue to improve the health of its residents?

What can the City do to achieve Housing for All?
This online discussion forum has concluded. You can still browse the site but the discussion area will no longer accept new comments or votes.
The variety and cost of housing was the number one concern of the public in Stage 1 of the CityShaping process. The cost of housing prices on the North Shore relates, in large part, to high land values. What can, or should the City do to improve the variety and affordability of housing for residents?

How can we become more resilient to the impacts of climate change?
This online discussion forum has concluded. You can still browse the site but the discussion area will no longer accept new comments or votes.
Climate change is already occurring, with an increase in storm events, increased rainfall and the potential for sea level rise. The City is committed to reducing the GHG gas emissions from buildings, transportation and waste that contribute to climate change. Planning for climate change with infrastructure, development regulations and improved emergency management measures could help increase resilience. What should the City be doing to adapt to climate change?
